RIOT
I've been playing the shit out of these guys over the last few days. I love the original line-up. Narita & Fire Down Under are two great hard rock/metal records. This band should have been much bigger in the USA then what became of them. They had a huge following in the UK during the NWOBHM. I got to see them 3 times with Guy Speranza fronting the band and twice with Rhett Forrester on lead vocals. I thought Restless Breed was a killer record too but was sad to see Guy leave the band. It's really too bad that both of those singers are no longer with us but thank god thay left us some kick-ass music that will live on. I'm still waiting to get Narita on CD, the few times I saw it at record conventions they wanted $40.00 for it. I just picked up a second copy of Narita on vinyl in mint condition. I gotta dupe it to CD now.
Any RIOT fans out there???? :jamming: |

Riot are one of those bands that I've read about for years but never heard, always seemed semi-legendary & should have gone onto bigger things.
Whats a good album to start with these guys? I can start making a list for the next record fair (I always go to them & never can remember what I am looking for) |

You have to get "Fire Down Under", it's perfect! Guarenteed to kick your ass! If you like great rock songs, a super tight band, great singing and kick-ass guitar playing this one's for you.

Riot is good stuff.
Fire Down Under w/Swords and Tequila is my favorite. Rhett used to live in Houston. We'd see him in the clubs, going to the same shows we would attend. HB:cool: |
Two of my past bandmates used to live next door to Rhett in LA back around 1989-90. They used to write songs together. I have to see if I can get my hands on some of the songs they recorded together.

I have the remastered version on CD and it's got 5 bonus tracks!

When I was younger I went into a record store and some dude in a Slayer tshirt recommended "The Priviledge of Power" tape to me. I bought it... I think it just came out.... and I loved that freakin album. I can't say I am a big "Riot" fan because they changed singers so much it was hard for me to get behind em'.. and the singer on T.P.O.P. was only with them for one other album....
But man I ended up buying that allbum on CD and that dude sang wicked high.. I still enjoyed the album.. even years later. |
Riot is an AWESOME band that deserves much, much more acclaim. So many great albums, and Mark Reale's had the band going for practically 30 years!
"Fire Down Under" is an all-time CLASSIC!! Swords and Tequila, Outlaw, Don't Bring Me Down, Altar of the King...not to mention FEEL THE SAME!:metal: Here's a little new blurb on RIOT posted on Blabbermouth on Oct 30: Long-running hard rock band RIOT have posted a couple of short video clips from their Japanese tour in early September. Check them out at this location. RIOT were recently joined for several shows (including the Japanese tour) by singer Mike Tirelli (MESSIAH'S KISS, HOLY MOTHER, BURNING STARR) after regular vocalist Mike Dimeo was forced to bow out of the dates due to his commitments with THE LIZARDS (also featuring drummer Bobby Rondinelli of BLUE ÖYSTER CULT/BLACK SABBATH/RAINBOW fame). The band are currently putting the finishing touches on their follow-up to 2002's "Through the Storm", tentatively due in early 2006 via an as-yet-undisclosed label. In a recent interview with Rock N Roll Universe, Dimeo said about the upcoming CD, "I'm really proud of it. I think it's probably my best performance with the band. The songs are really heavy, really cool. Reale [Mark, guitar] is a tremendous writer, so it's hard to not get great stuff from him. He's such a good writer that no matter what way he does it, his songs usually come out great." |
