Hetfields songwriting, and Lars arrangements made them great. Other then James being a solid rythem guitarist none of them were great musicans.

Well, Cliff was fucking good and Rob is an outstanding bassist, Jason kind of blew nuts.

Like most great bands, Metallica played within their boundries and did it better then anyone else. Kirk always captured the moment with his solos, and thats all they needed. Kirks solos were 1/4 of what made Metallica the shit back in the day. Fuck, thats more then most people in the business can say, huh? Most guitarists would give thier left nut to have had his job.......fuck off....you know you would.

Bunch of great bands out there with average musicans. Fuck, lets be honests, the technically great ones usually suck ass when it comes to writing. The best musicans are writers more then the players....Metallica were writers of some of metals most sacred shit.

The past 10 years aside, From Kill to Black....Metallica will always be one of the greatest metal bands.......ever. Too bad they fuck it up these days, still they are among the greats.......it's just "cool" to act like you never liked Metallica.

Kirk is Kirk.....He isnt great....He doesnt suck.......he does what he does. Worse then some, better then others.......
