Probably my favourite Dio album ever, along with Holy Diver. Criminally underrated too, Strange Highways is an excellent track but my favourites from the record are "Bring Down The Rain" "JM&THG" "Pain" "Firehead" and "Hollywood Black."

Love "Strange Highways", certainly Dio's darkest album - although at times it sounds as if tracks were left-overs from the Sabbath "Dehumanizer" record - which isn't a bad thing at all since I enjoyed that album a lot as well.
Especially the titeltrack is excellent...
"I, I, good for nothing
Going nowhere, so they say
Hey, someone give me blessings
For they say that I have sinned
That is when I crawl inside myself
And ride into the wind
On Strange Highways"
I guess that lyrical fragment is something which I (and I know a lot of other people) can relate to emotionally. At least it sends shivers down my spine everytime I hear it...
I...I...testify...they just showed me Mary...she looks down...stoned...danger zone...there's nothing in her eyes...and then there there...in the air...enters the cross of Jesus....

Nothing from that album sticks. I must've heard a thousand times before. I've already got Killing The Dragon memorized in my head. But Strange Highways ?
The sad thing is, at least where I live, it went straight to the bargain bin. I didn't even know he had a new album out in whatever year that was when it came out. I just happened across it while looking for something else in the Ds (probably Doro). There were one or two tapes and one or two CDs. Not that any kind of metal is really pushed by the record companies where I live, but come on, there should have been something--a poster, a little announcement on the New Release board they have. People don't tend to buy things if they don't know said things exist. Aw well. Whatever. It's a great little album; I like it.
Yeah. It doesn't suck. I love it. I'm listening to it right now.
But there isn't a song thats memorable for days on ends. Except for the title track perhaps.
Hey Dionysus, I think every record store is like that. Sometimes I'll go up to the billboard where they have new cds listed and I'll purposely ask if they have a certain new disc out yet (when I know its like 2 months away from release or something). Lol.
