Davis, 38, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and had reportedly played in Ozzy Osbourne's band for a week until he "got booted due to politics and other miscellaneous issues." Mike had also spent time playing with Dogma, the former band of ex-Ozzy guitarist Joe Holmes.
Says Halford manager John Baxter, "Ray Riendeau just after the NY shows informed us that the pressures that exist with his personal affairs are too great right now for him to commit to the forthcoming Halford tour. So I'm pleased to announce that bassist Mike Davis (Joe Holmes, Ozzy, Lizzy Borden) has joined Halford for The Metal Gods Tour.
"Once the band & Mike have had chance to work with each other for a significant period of time, discussions of joining the band permanently will take place.
"Mike fits the emotional and musical requirements the band requires, so we're sure you'll enjoy his company and heavy playing.
"Mike makes his debut in Chicago on the opening night [April 25] of The Metal Gods Tour."
Riendeau was absent from Halford's most recent West Coast dates due to "prior commitments" and was temporarily replaced by Flotsam And Jetsam bassist Jason Ward.

They opened with Priest's "Painkiller", putting Rob's vocals to the test right away. A test he passed with flying colors. His band was great behind him, with Metal Mike showing himself more and more to be one of the top axeman in metal today. His showmanship matched Halford's own. Of course, Jarzombek was amazing on the drum kit as well. The band's new bassist Mike Davis was a big improvement over the rather faceless Ray Riendau, jumping all over the stage. Guitarist Roy Z was pretty good as far as technique goes but I do miss Pat Lachman's animalistic stalking of the stage.

Mike Davis is the electric bass player for The Newcomers, and by electric I don't mean the bass guitar either. I mean electric in the way that he carries himself onstage. He can rock with the best of 'em, and if you've ever seen The Newcomers in concert, I'm sure you'd agree. Mike's the "natural wonder with all the thunder!"
Mike Davis was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and currently lives in Montebello, California. His birthday is May 21, 1964. Mike started playing the bass guitar in high school. While everyone was listening to hard rock bands like Kiss, Mike was listening to The Beatles and Paul McCartney. Mike actually has more of a heavy metal past, playing in such bands as "Lizzy Borden" and "Dogma" which featured heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne's present guitar player (Mike never told me his name). Mike was very close to a record deal about the time that he left that band. Amongst all this, and this is quite impressive if I do say so myself, Mike actually played in Ozzy Osbourne's band for about a week, until he got booted out due to politics, and other miscellaneous issues. Mike also does studio gigs when he gets a chance, and has done numerous records for several Japanese record companies, not to mention contributing "ghost" bass work with a band called "XYZ". Mike works with John Easdale at The Album Network in Burbank, California, and when he's not onstage with The Newcomers, he's playing bass onstage with Mark Englert's band, and playing 12 string bass with an incredible Cheap Trick tribute band called Heaven Tonight. On a last musical note (no pun intended), Mike also plays guitar and is currently trying to learn the cello. Mike would also love to sing, but, by his own admission, can't do it too well.

On a personal level (I did say that I wasn't going to get into the personal lives of these guys, since this isn't gonna be a gossip column by any means, however I do know that the following are some things that Mike is very proud of, and wouldn't mind me printing it), Mike also has an awesome 12 yr old son, and is one hell of a hockey goaltender (Mike's also one of the biggest hockey fans in the world by the way). His hockey team finished 3rd in it's last season!!! Mike's not married nor does he have a girlfriend, but he did tell me in an e-mail "I'm accepting applications (just kidding)!"

RYW: Why didn't Michael Davis tour with you guys this year? You had Marten Andersson.
Lizzy: Marten was our bass player in 1992 and before him I had Brian Perry, and so many different people, Mike has been out of the band since 1987, so I had such a good relationship with the band that I had with Alex and Marten and Joey and myself and thru that whole touring phase at the end that I just kind of wanted to continue where we left off. I didn't want to try and resurrect something. I haven't played with Mike in so long. I actually did offer it to him, I'm really not into reunions and I don't want to call this a reunion, but if you would like to come aboard, you're welcomed, but he had so many things going on at the time that he couldn't do it. Marten is someone that is such a great bass player and he fits into what I want to do now and that's why I really don't call this a reunion, we're just continuing after a little vacation.
